Exhibition (as part of the 23. Halleschen Frauenkulturtage)

Her family from Halle owned a textile factory here. But she, Emmy Rubensohn, lived on three continents, in Leipzig, Kassel, Shanghai and New York. Wherever she worked, she worked tirelessly for musicians. In Kassel she housed the composer Ernst Krenek. During the Nazi period she led the music section of the Jewish Cultural Association Kassel. And even in her Shanghai exile, which she was able to save herself in the 1940s, she took part in the musical life. After the Second World War she found new friends in New York: like the brilliant conductor Dimitri Mitropoulos or the admired Alma Mahler-Werfel.

The by Prof. dr. Matthias Henke (University of Siegen) is the first portrayal of the life of the patron, the music was an indispensable (over) food.

Women's suffrage, equal treatment law, parental allowance and gay marriage are all well and good, but it is not really fair between people of different genders.
Inspired by the successful women's strike in Spain in 2018, a women's strike group was founded in Halle. With creative, political actions we want to draw attention to the existing gender justice on the International Women's Day on 8 March 2019. Even beyond the day we will work on the topic and exchange our experiences with sexism and unequal treatment, encourage and educate ourselves.
We want to create a feminist space for all genders. Childcare is planned.

Foosball, billiards, board games, card games, thinking constructs ... or simply clinking tea, beer or wine together. Games are available, but may also be brought in plenty. Games-loving women, come in and see us - you're welcome!
